Viking Axe – Fenrir & Vegvisir

The Fenrir & Vegvisir Viking axe is unique, handmade and serial numbered piece. As these axes decorated with Viking symbols are handmade, they are not exactly the same.

Each piece has its own unique characteristics, minor differences from the others. Only the already completed and unsold axes can be seen here. When you buy one, it will be removed from the gallery.

The head of the viking axe was made of steel. I made it with metal etching technique. Therefore I can etch the pattern into the metal with nice lines, accurately and deep enough. I designed the ax with original Viking symbols.

I’m making the handles out of steamed beech wood. It is a fine, quite hard and above all beautiful wood. I carve out each handle individually.

Because I make each piece individually, with heart and soul, however they are made slowly. So, if you find one you like, which you feel belongs to you, you should buy it as soon as possible. Because it will only be available until it will be selected by its new owner.

Viking motifs

There are many Viking motifs on the axe, for instance: the Vegvisir compass and Fenrir the wolf.

Vegvisir is the magic of the defense symbol. This symbol was very important to the Vikings. It shows the way and protects you on your way. For many, the Viking Vegvisir represents orientation on our spiritual journey and ensures that whatever obstacles life has in front of us. We always stay on the right path.

Fenrir is a giant wolf in the Scandinavian mythology. His father is Loki, his mother is Angrboda giantess. According to the mythology, the gods were afraid of him, and want to kill him because Fenrir was such a huge wolf, such a monster.
