I think that when it comes to custom-made works, there is always something about the creator. So I’ll introduce myself to you in a few lines. I don’t want to put a biography, where I went to school type of boring text here, so I’ll just tell you in a few sentences what this site is about and why these creations and products are made.

Adrian KollarMy first experience with carving was when I wanted to carve an imperial staircase out of wood during the summer holidays at my grandparents’ house. With a knife the size of the one that nowadays requires a licence and at least a six-month exam to use. The result was quite a bloody scar, still visible to this day, but it didn’t put me off.

I’ve been lucky all my life and somehow I’ve always been able to do creative, creative work. At first I was more interested in painting and music. I managed to show some of my paintings, but before I really developed my style, life took me further. Music has remained a hobby, the songs in my videos are my own compositions, often specifically composed for the subject matter.

I managed to work for many years in a ceramics workshop where, as well as making ceramics, I also made small sculptures. I am grateful that over the years I have learned to make plaster casts, rubber moulds, and for a while I was able to pursue my creative ambitions in filmmaking, making commercials, video clips and cartoons. I also worked on animated stop-motion puppets, film masks, film tricks and effects,

Hand-drawing has accompanied my career so far, and I owe a lot to the fact that I have learned to visually design and draw what I have imagined. Over time, computer graphics and 3D design have become part of my work, and I also love the possibilities of digital creation.

Carver Mind
A few years ago when I was carving a tiny wooden bird for my daughter, it occurred to me that I could make a video of these carvings being made. Since I was already into video making and had made a YouTube channel on other subjects (film effect tutorials), it was a no-brainer. I intended the videos to be in English, but without speech and with only music. This is how the Carver Mind Youtube channel was born. In the end I liked the video presentation so much that it inspired me to create more objects. It’s great to be able to work with different materials in each video, and to create works that challenge me. Works that I have wanted to make for a long time. When I had made quite a few videos, it occurred to me how long I had wanted to make an axe with real Viking designs. As each carving taught me new techniques and I acquired new tools, I was able to hand engrave my Engraved Viking Axe video.

The video of making the axe became popular and many people contacted me wanting to buy it for themselves or as a gift. I didn’t end up selling that axe, it was donated to a charity auction. But because so many people contacted me about it, I started to make Viking axes for sale using an improved technique and now I can also make personalised Custom Viking Axes.

Of course, I don’t plan to present only axes and Viking style products in the webshop, slowly more and more products are being released. As all my products are handcrafted, there is no mass production of them, I can only slowly add new ones.

I hope you enjoy my creations and if you would like to please someone special to you with a special, out of the ordinary gift, please take a look around the shop.
