Fenrir & Vegvisir Viking Axe – Black Metal

These Viking styled axes are unique, handmade and serial numbered craft pieces. As these axes decorated with Viking motifs are handmade, they are not exactly the same.

Each Viking styled axe has its own unique characteristics, minor differences from the others. Only the already completed and unsold axes can be seen here. When you buy one, it will be removed from the gallery.

The heads of axes were made of steel, similarly the standard axes, and I made the symbols with metal etching technique. I made this Viking styled axes for sale, but I made it as heartily as any of my creations. The black color of the ax head is made with metal browning. As a result this darkens the steel in a very thin layer and also gives it extra protection against corrosion.

I’m making the handles of axe out of steamed beech wood or ash wood. It is a fine, quite hard and above all beautiful wood. I carve out each handle individually.

Each piece are made individually I’m making them with precision and attention but however very slowly. When you find one you like, which you feel belongs to you, you should buy it as soon as you can. Because it will only be available until it will be selected by its new happy owner.

Viking motifs

There are two main Viking motifs on the axe (Same motifs as my other Viking axe): the Vegvisir compass and Fenrir the wolf.

Vegvisir was the magic of the defense symbol, which was important to the Vikings. It shows the good way and protects you on your way. For many, the Viking Vegvisir represents orientation on our spiritual journey. Ensures that whatever obstacles life has in front of us. We always stay on the right path.

Fenrir is a giant wolf monster in Scandinavian mythology. His father is Loki the god, and his mother is Angrboda the giantess. According to the mythology, Fenrir was such a gigantic wolf, above all a monster that even the gods were afraid of him.
